Hampton Beach

Lively Hampton Beach is one of the premier summer vacation destinations in New Hampshire, and draws visitors from all over the country. During this peak travel season, you can enjoy as many as 80 free concerts every evening, spectacular weekly fireworks extravaganzas, and elegant Hampton Beach hotels with ocean views and full service spas. Hampton Beach vacations have just about everything to offer visitors, including fine dining, wonderful events, and great shopping. The choices of Hampton Beach lodging are many. There are intimate and charming bed and breakfast inns, resorts with happening nightclubs, modest motels, and even beach camping.

Grand Hampton Beach hotels started being built in the 1840s, and they got grander during the Golden Age when the trolley line to the elegant Hampton Beach Casino was opened at the turn of the century. Note, that this was never a gambling establishment in the modern sense of the word. At the turn of the century, the term “casino” was used to describe posh ballrooms, and you will find also them in the resorts of the White Mountains and the Lakes Region.

As you enjoy your Hampton Beach vacations you’ll see vestiges of the rich Hampton Beach history in many places. The 1923 fire station is still in service. Many of the Hampton Beach hotels date to the region’s Golden Age at the turn of the century. Others are historic bed and breakfast inns that were once the private homes of the wealthy. A number of your Hampton Beach lodging options will offer services such as deep-sea fishing, scenic whale-watching cruises, and hiking trails. Others partner with the nearly dozens places for golfing in the area.

Located south of its more sedate neighbor, Rye Beach, Hampton Beach has an old-fashioned beachside boardwalk that is lined with amusement arcades, fast food restaurants, candy and t-shirt shops. Here the beach is broad and sandy with plenty of room for volley ball games as well as for the children to build sand castles and play in the surf. Other things to do include spending a day at Water Country, one of the state’s water parks, attending concerts at the landmark Casino Club or one of the other nightclubs, and getting in some shopping and dining at the more than 100 stores and restaurants at Fox Hill Mall. Events abound during the summer season, including an annual Children’s Festival, a sand sculpting competition, and the extremely popular Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. Your Hampton Beach vacations can be filled with exciting activities every day, or you can relax at one of the area’s spas.
